In short
A gallery is a collection of images in one place, whether that's a museum wall, a photo album or a grid on your phone. At events, it usually means the shared collection of all guest photos.
In Filmriss, the gallery stays closed until the reveal and then opens for everyone at the same time, by default at 10 am the morning after. According to the features page, every guest appears in the gallery under their own name. By default all guests can see it, but the host can also set it up so the gallery is just for them. You can download your own photos or all of them as a ZIP in original quality: not downsized and not recompressed.

Example
The morning after the company summer party, the gallery opens. One colleague downloads every picture as a ZIP for the team newsletter, while everyone else saves just their own shots.
What to watch out for
- Photos stay online for 90 days after the reveal and are then deleted automatically (see the FAQ and retention period).
- Decide in advance whether all guests should see the gallery, or only you.
- Because every guest appears by name, everyone can later see who took which picture. It's worth mentioning that to guests beforehand.
