Place card

A place card is a small, usually folded card at each seat that shows who sits where; it often carries extra details such as a QR code.

In short

Place cards tell guests where to sit at formal meals such as weddings and banquets. According to Wikipedia, they typically show the guest's name and table number, often with some design to match the event, and at some weddings they double as a menu. In German-speaking countries the equivalent is the Tischkarte, usually a folded card standing on the table.

Example

At a wedding with 80 guests, every seat has a card with a name on it. On the back is a printed QR code guests can scan to add their photos throughout the evening.

What to watch out for

  • Card stock: Thin paper flops over. Slightly heavier card stands up better.
  • Readability: Use large, clear lettering so guests find their seat quickly.
  • Print spares: Run off a few extra cards in case the seating plan changes at the last minute.
  • Make it work twice: A place card can carry more than a name, such as a QR code to the photo gallery or a photo challenge.

With Filmriss

The free QR table cards tool lets you enter names, pick a style and print cards with your event code as a PDF – for example in A6 size. You create your event in the app first.
