Shot limit

A shot limit is the fixed number of photos each person can take at an event. In Filmriss, the host sets it per guest: anywhere from 1 to 50 shots, with 15 as the default.

This is what the morning after feels like with Filmriss: nobody sees a picture until the reveal, then everyone at once.

In short

A shot limit caps how many pictures someone can take. With an analogue disposable camera it comes built in, because the roll only holds so many exposures. The cap makes people shoot more deliberately instead of firing off twenty versions of the same moment.

Filmriss brings that idea to the phone. According to the features page, every guest gets a film with 1 to 50 shots, with 15 as the default. The host chooses the number when creating the event. Since there is no preview and no deleting, every shot counts.

Example

For a 30th birthday with 40 guests, the host sets 10 shots per person. Guests think for a second before pressing the button, and the result is a set of photos people actually want to look through, rather than hundreds of near-duplicates.

What to watch out for

  • A lower limit makes each shot feel more valuable; a higher one suits long celebrations.
  • Mention the limit when welcoming guests or on a place card, so nobody uses up their film in the first hour.
  • Pair the shot limit with a photo challenge if there are moments you definitely want captured.
